Our philanthropic mission is to provide experiences and resources that build spiritual, mental and social resiliency in girls. We work towards fulfilling our mission through our philanthropic focus, Building Strong Girls, and supporting chapters of Girls On The Run. Girls On The Run is an organization that is integrated into elementary and middle schools as an afterschool activity. The girls who sign up for Girls On The Run participate in learning about physical fitness, healthy lifestyle choices, tutoring and mentoring and empowerment all while training for a 5K race at the end of the 8 week program.
Gamma Phi Beta's philanthropic focus doesn't just address an existing challenge - we are building strong girls to proactively provide opportunities for long-term success by inspiring the leaders of tomorrow.
As women, we are all who we are today because we had a mentor or coach who taught us what it means to be a strong girl and Gamma Phi Beta harvests these leadership skills to build strong girls for the future.
At the Epsilon Lambda Chapter, we build strong girls by participating in a variety of organizations. We volunteer with our local Girls on the Run Chapter in Birmingham for their annual 5K and host multiple fundraisers throughout the year, ranging from cook outs to percentage days at local stores, in support of our philanthropic mission to provide experiences and resources that build spiritual, mental and social resiliency in girls.
This school year, we hosted our inaugural Moonball, Gamma Phi Beta's signature philanthropy event. This kickball tournament raised over $17,000 for the local Girls on the Run chapter and had teams from other houses on campus.
We also encourage sisters to become involved in many mentoring and philanthropic organizations on campus where they will have the opportunity to build strong girls and become strong role models for young women.
